Rain a help for Unaccompanied

TRIUMPH Hurdle runner-up Unaccompanied bids to go one place better in the AES Champion 4yo Hurdle at Punchestown today.

A rare National Hunt performer for Moyglare Stud Farm, Dermot Weld’s youngster won her first two starts over obstacles before chasing home Zarkandar at Cheltenham in March.

Unaccompanied subsequently won a Listed race on the Flat and Fiona Craig, sales and breeding consultant for Moyglare, is excited about today’s race.

“We’re very hopeful she’ll run another good race. She’s in great order and the rain that fell on Thursday night will be a big help,” said Craig. “It’s a competitive race with the English horses coming over, but if she can reproduce her Cheltenham run we’d be overjoyed.

“Paul Carberry rides her, with Paul Townend unfortunately injured, but that will be fine and everyone is looking forward to it.

“I have to say, from a breeding point of view, this isn’t exactly what we expected.

“Being by Danehill Dancer out of a Sadler’s Wells mare, we hoped she might be an Oaks filly, but she’s doing well at what she’s doing and that’s great.
