Long Run team delay Aintree decision
Connections are keen to run the Cheltenham Gold Cup winner in the totesport Bowl on Merseyside next Thursday, but ground conditions must be suitable.
His owner said: “We’ll leave it as late as we can. We’d like to go there, but it’s got to be rained-on ground, not just watered good ground that’s a bit quick.
“It will only 20 days since the Gold Cup so we need the horse right, the ground right and everything else.”
Wayward Prince is likely to bid for further Aintree honours in the John Smith’s Mildmay Novices’ Chase on Friday week.
The seven-year-old won his first three starts over fences before finishing strongly to grab third in the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
