Sikara looks good for Stack

TOMMY Stack’s once-raced Sikara is the nap choice in the ISF EBF Median Auction Fillies Maiden at Dundalk tonight.

Sikara looks good for Stack

Stack’s team appear to be well forward and that is a major plus at this very early stage of the campaign.

The daughter of Aussie Rules, an unconsidered 20-1 chance, ran a race rich in promise at Roscommon last September.

In very testing conditions, Sikara finished to real effect to fill second spot, five lengths behind the impressive winner, Jessica Harrington's Bible Belt.

The form has been working out quite nicely. Bible Belt went on to be beaten two heads into third in a Group 3 at the Curragh, while Emerald Ring, third at Roscommon, scored subsequently.

Stack’s Blue Dahlia will be popular in the Crowne Plaza Race and Stay Package Race over five furlongs.

She bolted in first time out this season, at the Curragh twelve days ago, but has a definite liking for soft ground and that’s a worry on this surface.

Preference is for Pat Martin’s Knock Stars, who made no show at Leopardstown last Sunday when last of 14 behind Aidan O’Brien’s Empowering.

That seven furlongs, however, was too far for the selection and dropping down to the minimum trip will be more suitable.

Successful three times last season, the daughter of Soviet Star rounded off her juvenile days with a cracking effort over five furlongs on this track in October, beaten about a length into fourth behind the five-year-old Invincible Ash in a Listed event.
