The Gold Cup is the most coveted prize in national hunt racing and being at Cheltenham on Gold Cup day is an unforgettable experience.

Unaccompanied can triumph for Weld

Usually there is a very obvious favourite with a few pretenders snapping at his heels but that isn’t the case this year as most of the leading contenders have had their problems.

Imperial Commander is the champion but he hasn’t run for a long time. He has a great record on the track but I’m not too sure about him. Kauto Star would like the ground as it is at the moment but 11-year-olds don’t generally win the race. Denman would definitely like to get his toe in more. Kempes has won on very soft but they’ve always suggested he might prefer good ground and he might be in with a squeak.
