IT SEEMS inevitable that Gordon Elliott will be a regular in the winner’s enclosure at Cheltenham Festivals of the future but the first winner is inevitably the most difficult to source and the man who, with Silver Birch in 2007, became the youngest ever trainer to win the Aintree Grand National, will be more than eager to set the ball rolling.

Willie Mullins aside, Elliott is arguably the Irish trainer with the next strongest team at the festival and today is an important day for the Meath handler.
