JASON MAGUIRE’S appeal against a seven-day ban that would rule him out of the ride on leading Stan James Champion Hurdle hope Peddlers Cross at Cheltenham next month will be heard on Thursday.

The Irish-born jockey will be represented at the British Horseracing Authority hearing by Graeme McPherson QC, with Rory Mac Neice acting as his solicitor.

Maguire had been looking forward to partnering the unbeaten six-year-old for trainer Donald McCain on March 15 but found himself in hot water with the stewards at Doncaster following his ride on the stable’s Cool Mission, second to Beshabar in the beginners’ chase on Wednesday.
