Ruby set to ride out in next few days

RUBY WALSH is right on schedule to return to action in the near future.

He had the metal frame, which has encased his broken right leg since November 6, removed yesterday.

Walsh broke his leg when taking a crashing fall off Corrick Bridge at the fifth fence in a handicap chase at Down Royal.

Said Walsh: “The frame was on for fourteen weeks and four days and the leg now feels great.

“I will be back riding out this weekend, or early next week. I will be riding in races in about two weeks, or, maybe, just a little bit longer, but certainly not later than March 5.

“It is all systems go now and the plan has always been to get back in plenty of time for Cheltenham.’

* HORSE Racing Ireland yesterday announced that there will be a replacement meeting at Naas on Wednesday, March 9.

In addition, the Gowran Park meeting scheduled for Wednesday (E) March 30 has been transferred to Saturday, April 2 (afternoon).
