Monet’s continues to improve

MONET’S GARDEN may not be far off a return to Nicky Richards’ Greystoke yard in Cumbria as he continues to recover from his potentially life-threatening injury.

Monet’s continues to improve

The 13-year-old picked up an infection in a hoof injury after winning the Old Roan Chase at Aintree for the third time.

His rehabilitation is continuing at Oaklands Veterinary Centre in Yarm and the team, led by vet Caroline Blackiston, reduced his medication recently and continue to reduce the size of the specialist shoe he has been wearing.

“Everything seems to be going along steady at the moment and I would hope we can have him home at some stage in the near future,” said Richards.

“I haven’t had a word with Caroline, the vet looking after him, yet today but no doubt she’ll drop me a line at some time through the day.

“The improvement in him since we broke the news has been unbelievable. There was a lot of doom and gloom about it but we are not out of the woods yet.”
