Sublimity spot on for Cork test

ROBBIE Hennessy would love Sublimity to land his first success for over two years in the McCarthy Insurance Group Hurdle at Cork today.

Sublimity spot on for Cork test

The 2007 Champion Hurdle hero has had several stiff tasks since he won the December Festival Hurdle at Leopardstown at Christmas 2008.

Third in the Irish Champion Hurdle last January, he was a well-beaten last of four behind Solwhit on his return to action at Punchestown in November. Sublimity is now dropped in class and faces just four rivals as he bids for a confidence-boosting victory.

“He’s in great form. We’ve been up to Dundalk with him the last few weeks because of the bad weather to keep him on the go,” said the County Meath trainer.

“He’s been up there a good bit and we’ve got some good work into him, so he’s not short on fitness. He’s spot on for tomorrow and it looks a little bit easier than he’s been up against the last year or two.

“The last day he was up against the big boys and on ground which he hates. The ground will probably be soft tomorrow, but there are no Grade One horses in it so I’m expecting a big run.

“It would be nice if he could get his head back in front again and be great to see him in the winner’s enclosure. It would boost his confidence. We’ve entered him for the Irish Champion Hurdle later this month. If the ground came up good he might take his chance.”
