All systems go for spectacular Fairyhouse card
This meeting was already home to three Grade 1 races, the Hatton's Grace Hurdle, Drinmore Novice Chase and Royal Bond Novice Hurdle, but has been strengthened even further by the inclusion of two more graded contests.
The Grade 1 John Durkan Chase was due to be run at Punchestown today, but that meeting was again cancelled yesterday morning.
Punchestown was found to be still frozen and under snow. As a result the John Durkan has been rescheduled for Fairyhouse, as part of an eight-race card.
Also moved to Fairyhouse is the Grade 2 Hilly Way Chase, which was cancelled at Cork on Sunday. Punchestown will now attempt to race next Monday.
The first race at Fairyhouse is at 11.50 and admission will be €10.00.
Manager, Peter Roe, said: “We are delighted to stage what looks a fantastic day’s National Hunt racing. We will continue to monitor the weather, but it is all systems go and we hope to see a big crowd here to support the day.”
