Talented Tranquil Sea can do the business
There are indications O’Grady’s horses are ready to hit top gear and he had a winner and a second at Naas yesterday.
Tranquil Sea scored three times last season and was, arguably, at his best in the first half of the campaign.
He won first time out at Naas, then toyed with Poquelin in the Paddy Power at Cheltenham in November and was runner-up behind the smart Golden Silver at Leopardstown at Christmas.
The likes of Let Yourself Go, Scotsirish and Siegemaster are worthy opponents, but Tranquil Sea is a decent horse when on song and, hopefully, will be primed to deliver. Michael Winters’ For Bill is the interesting one in the Grade 3 EBF TA Morris Memorial Mares’ Chase.
She has been terrific in bumpers and over flights, rounding off that part of her career with an emphatic eight lengths success in a Grade 3 hurdle at Fairyhouse at Easter.
This, however, was always going to be her true calling, having begun life with two victories in the point-to-point fields.
Willie Mullins’ charges have yet to hit their best form, but will surely do so sooner rather than later and his Apt Manor gets the nap in the INH Stallion Owners’ EBF Novice Hurdle.
She had to dig deep to land a modest maiden at Galway last month, but may be seen in a better light with an extra half mile to travel.
