Queally comeback delayed

TOM QUEALLY’S return to the saddle has been delayed by 24 hours following his accident at Goodwood on Sunday and he will now be back in action at Newmarket on Friday.

Queally comeback delayed

Henry Cecil’s jockey was intending to be back in the saddle on Thursday but he could not get an appointment to see the doctor until Thursday afternoon.

Queally has some choice rides at Newmarket on Saturday, including Henry Cecil’s much-vaunted Frankel in the Dewhurst and Twice Over, who will be bidding for a repeat win in the Champion Stakes.

Meanwhile, Kerrin McEvoy has been pencilled to ride Campanologist in the Emirates Melbourne Cup, if he recovers from a back injury in time.

Godolphin’s former number two to Frankie Dettori in Europe fractured a vertebrae in a fall in June but hopes to be back in action at Flemington.

The Australian won the famous race in 2000 on Brew and has been placed on Godolphin’s Crime Scene and Beekeeper.

McEvoy took part in barrier trials at Rosehill on Tuesday as he continued his recuperation.

Along with Campanologist, Godolphin are due to run Holberg, the mount of Frankie Dettori.

“They (Saeed bin Suroor and racing manager Simon Crisford) are waiting to see how Kerry is fitness wise,” said Godolphin’s travelling head lad, Tommy Strang.

“Campanologist has won Group Ones, albeit on soft ground in Germany, but he’s a proper Group Two-Group Three horse.

“Holberg stays, he’ll run a trip,” he told www.heraldsun.com.au.

Godolphin also have Eastern Aria in Australia, trained by Mark Johnston and due to be ridden by Craig Williams.
