Well drawn Ballybacka looks the part
She will be partnered for the first time by the superb Pat Smullen and, drawn favourably in five, should take a lot of beating.
The daughter of Hurricane Run has produced two cracking efforts, and two bad performances, and the hope is that she will arrive now with all guns blazing.
On her second outing, she was grabbed late by Dermot Weld’s highly-rated Zaminast at the Galway Festival and then performed deplorably at Leopardstown.
Ballybacka Lady was, however, right back on track at the Curragh last time when beaten three parts of a length by Banimpire.
That was a smart effort, considering it was a further seven lengths to the third, and a repeat of that should be more than sufficient.
Best contest of the evening is the six-runner www.dundalkstadium.com Race, in which all of the possibilities have a life of sorts.
Best favoured by the conditions is David Wachman’s Barbadine, who has between 5lbs and 18lbs in hand of her rivals.
But she is not overly reliable and preference is for Aidan O’Brien’s Lastofthemohicans, who has shown a liking for this track in the past.
Indeed, his latest outing was at Dundalk last month when failing by a neck to concede Whisper Cool 20lbs in a competitive handicap.
