Memory can redress balance for Hannon
The daughter of Danehill Dancer is unbeaten in three races and, essentially, has to be supported until meeting defeat. Following victories in a maiden at Goodwood and the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot, she then contested the Cherry Hinton Stakes at Newmarket.
Slowly away on her first two outings, Memory had no such problems on this occasion, but then proceeded to find most of the trouble that was going.
She was eventually extricated by Richard Hughes and then found an explosive turn fo foot to win quite comfortably in the end. It was a performance which smacked of class and Soraaya (second), Hooray (third) and Lily Again (fifth) all won subsequently.
Glor Na Mara makes a quick reappearance in the Group 3 Go And Go Round Tower Stakes, after proving no match for Pathfork at the Curragh last weekend.
He was very uneasy in the market and duly failed to cope with the heavily-backed winner, failing by a length and a half. Glor Na Mara gets the nap to go one better.
At Galway this afternoon, Ruby Walsh can continue his excellent return to action by guiding Clonard Lad to success in the Eurobead Maiden Hurdle.
He won a moderate bumper at Tramore, prior to making his debut over flights at the Galway Festival. Although beaten half a length and 14 lengths into third behind Universal Truth and Drumfire, it was a reasonable effort.
They are a pair of smart horses and the fourth and fifth respectively, One Cool Tornado and Bandama, have won in the meantime.
Walsh is a significant booking for Liss Na Tintri in the Easyfix Rubber Products Novice Hurdle. She has been most disappointing, running far too freely for her own good when nine lengths second to Ainama at Cork.
It will be interesting to note the tactics the canny Walsh will adopt and she gets the vote, in receipt of plenty of weight from the previous winners.
Beau Michael is fancied to complete a four-timer in the Deacy And Associates Novice Chase. He won over hurdles at Ballinrobe last time, over fences at Galway and on the flat at Ballinrobe. A tough resolute front-runner, Beau Michael is likely to ask plenty of questions of his opponents.
At Galway tomorrow Silverhand, second behind Rajik in a Listed event at the Curragh, is impossible to oppose in the Cunningham Higgins Mercedes Benz Hurdle.
Dream Champion, who bolted in at Bellewstown on Thursday night, can shrug off a mandatory 6lbs penalty and 12-3 in the Ryan Events Cleaners Handicap Hurdle.
