Jumbo looks poised to get off the mark

TIM DOYLE’S Jumbo Steps should go close in the Foleys’ Bar and Off Licence Handicap at Sligo tonight.

Jumbo looks poised to get off the mark

He showed some promise in five outings last season, but his latest performance indicated the three-year-old may have improved significantly for being gelded.

Jumbo Steps produced plenty of speed in a maiden at Naas last month, only getting collared close home when beaten half a length by Winning Impact.

Hardly surprisingly the selection went up 9lbs for that effort, but still remains on an attractive mark and can run a big race.

Catalpa Sail, making a quick reappearance after finishing second to Lightening Thief at Nass on Monday, may go one better in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Auction Maiden.

Kevin Prendergast’s Knight Eagle, with Sam James taking 7lbs off, gets the nod in the Sligo Champion Handicap.

Knight Eagle was beaten a neck over an inadequate nine furlong by Snap Alam at Ballinrobe, prior to filling third spot behind King’s Vintage and Top Spin at Killarney.

David Wachman’s horses seem to be finding some form, after a quiet time, and his Dainty is the choice in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Handicap.

She ran a nice sort of race when fifth behind Bob Le Beau at the Curragh and, hopefully, will now build on that.
