Walsh hopes for Galway return
Walsh has been sidelined since breaking his humerus, a bone in the upper part of the arm, in three places on Grand National afternoon at Aintree on April 10.
Speaking yesterday, Walsh said: “I have to go back to Bill Quinlan (othopaedic surgeon) in Dublin on next Monday week.
“I will be having an X-ray and it all depends on what that says. If it is good I will be back for Galway and if not then I won’t. I’m not riding out at the moment, but am getting physio.’
Walsh suffered his broken arm aboard Celestial Halo in the Aintree Hurdle. Celestial Halo was travelling strongly in the lead when taking a crashing fall at the second last.
He was due to partner Big Fella Thanks for Paul Nicholls in the Grand National later in the day, but was replaced by Barry Geraghty.
Big Fella Thanks finished fourth behind Don’t Push It, who gave Tony McCoy a memorable first success in the National.
