TOMMY STACK’S Machaputo, a big disappointment when well fancied on his debut at Down Royal – but a major order morning-prices – strolled to victory in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden at Tipperary last night.

Returned at 5-4, the Elusive City colt was taken as high as 7-2 in the offices. Wayne Lordan soon had him out and away and Machaputo never saw a rival, scoring by four lengths.

Fozzy Stack represented his father and said: “He didn’t handle Down Royal. He was showing plenty of boot at home and we kept it simple, jumping him out. He will come back here in the middle of July for a Listed race.”
