Gala can show the right spirit

ONCE-raced Gala Spirit can land the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Maiden at Naas tonight.

Gala can show the right spirit

The daughter of Invincible Spirit made a promising start over seven furlongs at Fairyhouse earlier in the month and there’s every reason to believe she will build on that.

Eddie Lynam’s three-year-old went off an easy to back 10-1 shot and never really looked like delivering.

But she did stay on steadily in the closing stages to finish three parts of a length and a length and a half third behind School Holidays and Smart Striking.

The form is reasonable, in the context of this moderate contest, with Smart Strking just getting touched off by Skyway at Leopardstown last week and the fifth and seventh at Fairyhouse, Strandhill and Roicead respectively, both winning modest heats in the meantime.

Emperor Claudius is fancied to dismiss Jembatt in the three-runner Naas Summer Evenings Race.

Prince Jock can’t possibly win and Emperor Claudius, impressive on his seasonal debut at Fairyhouse last week when easiily beating Luisant, has 8lbs in hand of Jembatt at the weights.

Paul Deegan’s Song Of Time looks the best proposition in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Auction Maiden.

She didn’t perform too badly when third to Together and Puttore at Leopardstown and the fourth, Gemstone, has since won at Limerick.

When Nidian was beaten a length and a quarter, having had far from a clear passage, by Arcadian Dream at the Curragh, he had The Grey Rebel half a length away in fourth.

The pair crop up again in the Go Racing In Kildare Maiden and preference is for The Grey Rebel, who was having a first outing on that occasion, in contrast to Nidian, who had three previous runs under his belt.
