SOLE POWER can land a blow for the three-year-olds by beating some more mature rivals in the Listed Sprint Stakes at Naas today.

Eddie Lynam’s gelding ran the race of his young life in a Group 3 at Newmarket last time and a repeat that will see him prove hard to beat. At Newmarket, the son of Kyllachy matched strides for much of the five furlongs trip with some of the best sprinters in Britain, before finishing fourth behind Equiano.

There was a lot to admire in the way he stuck to his task and this has to be regarded as a drop in class.

David Wachman’s Eastern Light is fancied to lead the opposition a merry dance in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Race.

Michael Cleere, who partnered a winner for Wachman at Tramore on Saturday and at Listowel yesterday, is again entrusted with the ride and takes a valuable 5lbs off. Eastern Light ran a cracking good race over six furlongs at Naas, only giving best late to Radharcnafarriage. She goes back a furlong in trip now and that can only work in her favour.

Radharcnafarriage herself can land the Group 3 Coolmore Stud Fillies Stakes.

She buckled down in fine style when beating Eastern Light at Naas and this does not appear to be the most competitive of Group Races.

Listowel this afternoon houses eight races and, with five of them handicaps, there is little cause for optimism.

One who might oblige is Lend A Hand Son, runner-up behind the smart Quiet Word at Ballinrobe last week, in the Island Maiden Hurdle.
