The former point-to-pointer, beaten by Del Rio in Perth last time, jumped soundly and travelled strongly throughout, taking over with three fences to jump and staying on well to beat the favourite convincingly by five lengths.
“We needed a bit of luck after earlier,” said Elliott, referring to the earlier defeat of his hot-pot Nedzer’s Return. “This fellow is a real summer chaser and has plenty of pace. That’s why we ran him over two miles in Perth the last day, He’ll run away for the summer and will probably head back to Perth, along with a lot of others of mine.”
