Henry Cecil’s Champion Stakes winner and Breeders’ Cup third cantered a circuit of the track on the Tapeta.

His rider has also been encouraged by his mount’s galloping companion, Tranquil Tiger, landing the Winter Derby at Lingfield last weekend.

Queally said: “I have ridden the horse twice out here and he has settled in well.

“He has not got a great draw but he is a well-balanced horse and I do not see it being a problem.

“He has improved no end since last summer and is in top nick.

“I wouldn’t say I am bullish, but I am very hopeful – Tranquil Tiger winning at Lingfield was a nice boost.”

Sir Gerry warmed up for the Al Quoz Sprint by working under big-race pilot Ryan Moore.

The champion jockey will be partnering the five-year-old for the first time in competitive action on Saturday.

Trainer John Best said: “He is not quite running to the form he showed as a juvenile when he finished third to Kingsgate Native in a Group One race. He is not back to that form, but is within 5lb or 6lb of it.”
