Kauto Star was a massively expensive loser for those who sent him off 1.92 and also for in-running players who took the slightly dubious decision to back him at shorter than 4-6 (1.63) in-running despite the fact that he made a shocking mistake quite early in the race.

After the departure of Kauto Star, stable-companion Denman hit a low of 1.7 but eventual winner Imperial Commander, who had traded at 70 in the ante-post market but no bigger than 12 in the early morning betting, proved too strong.
