Jockey Olympics in aid of Goal Haiti Appeal

NAAS Racecourse & Horse Racing Ireland will stage a novel event during the annual Cheltenham Trial day this Sunday.

During the afternoon three teams of jockeys to be captained by Ruby Walsh, Barry Geraghty and Paul Carberry will compete in the Jockey’s Olympics in aid of the GOAL Haiti appeal.

Ruby Walsh’s team will consist of David Casey, Davy Russell and Niall (Slippers) Madden. Barry Geraghty’s team will be John Cullen, Robert (Puppy) Power and Alan (Birdy) Crowe while Paul Carberry’s team is Paddy Flood, Ken Whelan & Martin Ferris.

Hector O’hEochagain will be the commentator and Gerry Loftus of Superstars fame will be the special guest referee. The competition will incorporate four events, a slow bicycle race, an egg and spoons race, a three legged race and the final event will be a football skills test when they will be required to kick a football through a tyre to score points for their team. GOAL will have a bucket collection on the day to raise funds for Haiti.
