Jumbo Rio set for French raid
Edward O’Grady’s youngster took the Champion Four-Year-Old Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival in May and has also won his last two starts.
He was twice beaten into second when visiting France during the summer, but O’Grady is hoping his charge can go one better next time.
“He is in the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown but the plan at the moment is to go for a Grade One in France on the same weekend,” said O’Grady.
“It’s a race for four-year-olds only so hopefully that is a good opportunity for him – we were very pleased with his last run at Limerick.”
O’Grady also had news of Catch Me, who will take his chance in Sunday’s Irish Stallion Farms EBF Novice Chase at Navan, a race rescheduled from last weekend’s abandoned Cork card.
“The race he was due to run in at Cork has been switched to Navan on Sunday so the plan is to run there with him,” said the County Tipperary handler.
