Second in the Stockholm Cup last weekend, Alvechurch trainer Ian Williams confirmed the seven-year-old will be making the trip Down Under for the ’race that stops a nation’ on November 3.
Williams said: “We discussed the matter during the week and we decided he should take his chance.
“He has got a nice weight and that should guarantee him a run.”
Munsef will leave Williams’ West Midlands yard on Thursday for Newmarket, where he will spend two weeks in quarantine before making the long trek to Australia.
He will then have another two weeks in Australia in quarantine before being allowed to start his preparations.
Williams will be making the trip himself to supervise preparations, but as yet no jockey arrangements have been finalised.
He also reported that former Chester Cup winner, Bulwark, will be heading straight for the Cesarewitch at Newmarket.
