Estephe set to score

TOMMY Stack’s Estephe can land the nap in the Ballygar Maiden at Roscommon this evening.

Estephe set to score

The ground is certain to be very testing, but that will hardly worry the selection. She has already shown a capacity to handle it and is by Sadler’s Wells.

Estephe went off favourite at the Curragh last time, but proved no match for Art Broker, going under by three lengths.

The form is ordinary, but the selection is entitled to come on plenty for the run. She has obviously had problems, not having been seen previously since a highly promising seasonal debut when third to Roses For The Lady at Leopardstown back in March.

The four-runner ERA Oates Auctioneers’ Race over seven furlongs looks best left to Charles O’Brien’s Lastkingofscotland.

His last effort saw him finish a disappointing, and remote, sixth of eight behind Vocalised at the Curragh in early May.

Prior to that, the son of Danehill Dancer won his maiden at Tipperary and was narrowly beaten by Count John in a winners’ race at Limerick.

He had three quick races in less than a month at that time and is now fancied to have the legs on Sunday’s Cork winner, Panic.

The first division of the J F Hanley Group Maiden Hurdle may be best left to Arthur Moore’s Regal Rumpus.

The seven-year-old performed with promise when third to Eyeffess at Wexford and the fourth then, Ballyvoile, went close in a Galway bumper last week.
