Stick with Devoted To You

AIDAN O’BRIEN’S Devoted To You gets the nap to beat Dermot Weld’s well-touted Brushed Aside in the www.thetote.com EBF Fillies Maiden at Galway tonight.

Stick with Devoted To You

Brushed Aside has been on many Ballybrit lists, since her debut at the Curragh 17 days ago, and, you’d imagine, will go off favourite!

Devoted To You was also in the contest, finishing third, a place and half a length in front of Brushed Aside, in a race won by Tommy Stack’s Rahya Cass.

In truth, Brushed Aside was never going to deliver that day, but her performance would have to be described as very much eye-catching all the same.

Devoted To You did have the benefit of a previous outing, unlike her rival, so logic would dictate Brushed Aside should now emerge the better.

There is an extra furlong to be covered, however, added to the stiff climb to the home turn and that’s going to make it interesting. In any case, what finally sways one towards Devoted To You is that she is by Danehill Dancer, which is a major plus in these conditions.

Whatever the fate of Brushed Aside, Weld is fancied to deliver with once-raced Qassaar in the Tote EBF Maiden.

He hasn’t been seen for 274 days, not since making a promising start when fourth behind John Oxx’s Space Telescope at Leopardstown back in October.

That’s a contest which has worked out quite nicely and we can be certain the selection will strip fit and fancied.

Feature event is the valuable Tote Galway Mile EBF Handicap, a race in which there is little cause for optimism. The nod falls on the mud-loving Rock And Roll Kid, who is most consistent, although, rather disconcertingly, keeps going up in the weights for not winning.
