Leighs setback

AN application for a racing licence from a company seeking to run Great Leighs racecourse has been rejected by the British Horseracing Authority.

The track has not raced since being placed into administration on January 16, and the BHA announced earlier this month that a licence would be needed by May 29 in order to obtain fixtures for 2010.The decision means the BHA will not allow them into the procedure to bid for any new fixtures next year.
