In-form Fantasy set to land Oaks

THE bang in-form Maireads Fantasy can land the €8,000 to-the-winner McCarthy Insurance Group Cork Oaks final at Curraheen Park tonight.

The selection has done nothing but impress in the stake so far, recording back-to-back 28.23 and 28.46 wins.

Blessed with plenty of early zip, Maireads Fantasy can shrug off a trap four draw.

Shaneboy Sophia heads the list of dangers.

A promising third behind Maireads Fantasy in the opening round, she enjoyed no luck in running when second behind Pencray Lass in the semis. Shaneboy Sophia is a very pacy sort but has been done no favours by a trap six draw.

Pencray Lass enjoyed a dream run when carding a career best 28.67 last week and could struggle to repeat the form.

Barnfield Laura is a really consistent sort but has twice finished behind Maireads Fantasy and there’s no obvious reason why she should reverse the form.

Lenas Maggie enjoyed the rub of the green (avoided a first bend melee) when beating Roxholme Sue in 29.02 and looks up against it from a trap five draw.

In contrast, Roxholme Sue is well drawn on the rails but will need to step up on recent efforts to oblige.

Summerfield Jean, who posted a 28.23 effort before making an unlucky exit in the semis, can land the Consolation Oaks.
