Walsh gets nod for Denman in Aon Chase
There had been much speculation that Sam Thomas, who guided Denman to success in last year’s Cheltenham Gold Cup, might retain the ride, but Paul Nicholls has decided to replace him with his number one rider.
Speaking last night, Walsh said: “I ride Denman at Newbury and am very much looking forward to it. I rode the horse over two miles on the flat at Wincanton last Friday morning and was delighted with the way he went. He is coming back to his best and looks in great nick right now.
