Europe can bounce back, says de Bromhead
The seven-year-old was a hugely impressive winner of the Grade One contest 12 months ago but faded tamely into fifth place behind Sublimity in the December Festival Hurdle at the Dublin track over Christmas.
His participation in that race had been in doubt due to a bruised foot, but that did not prevent him from being sent off the 15-8 favourite.
However the De Bromhead team had been out of sorts before Christmas, though the trainer got back in the winning groove through Darby’s Turn at Cork on Saturday.
“Hopefully we’ve turned the corner. Some of them hadn’t seemed to be running up to form, but I think they’re coming back now,” said De Bromhead. Sizing Europe seems in good form and we’re happy enough with him.
“The aim is the Irish Champion and hopefully he’ll bounce back there.”
