Fontaine looks another for Mullins

WILLIE MULLINS’ horses are in rude good health right now and Quiscover Fontaine can prove another for him in the Xmas Vouchers Gowran Golf Shop Maiden Hurdle at Gowran Park this afternoon.

Fontaine looks another for Mullins

He made a successful debut at the Punchestown Festival back in April, taking a valuable bumper from Fionn Tra, unraced since, and the subsequent winner, Across The Bay.

The selection then reappeared over flights at Fairyhouse last month, giving every indication his turn might not be long delayed.

Although well beaten into third behind On The Way Out and heavily-backed Judge Roy Bean, it was a solid start and Quiscover Fontaine is napped to build on that promising effort.

Charles Byrnes’ Weapon’s Amnesty can enjoy a first success in the Gowran Park Racing Club 2009 Maiden Hurdle.

He ran nicely in two bumpers last season and was immediately sent jumping on his initial outing of the new campaign.

That was at Thurles just over three weeks ago when a remote fifth behind Checkpointcharlie, in what looked a moderate enough contest.

But the son of Presenting is entitled to come on a bundle for that much-needed outing and this is another weak affair.

The progressive Tom Mullins-trained Boro Bee should go close in a competitive 22nd Jan-Thyestes Day At Gowran Bumper.

On the face of it finishing two and a half lengths runner-up behind Earth Mother at Wexford last time might leave her with a bit to find with one or two others, but perhaps that will not prove the case!

Gonebeyondrecall, a smart bumper horse and with a spin over flights already under his belt, could provide the answer to the Michael McNamara Memorial Novice Hurdle.
