Finicius set to follow-up
The four-year-old came back to something approaching his best on this track last month and has every chance of a successful follow-up.
Powerfully handled on that occasion by Jamie Spencer, he stayed on strongly in the closing stages to beat Bett’s Spirit and Soap Wars by a neck and the same. Johnny Murtagh now takes over from Spencer and that’s hardly a minus.
Bett’s Spirit and Soap Wars meet again in the Fianna Fail Benefit Night Race on exactly the same terms as last time.
It’s likely to be close again, but preference is for Soap Wars, who has since run a cracker at Dundalk.
A week ago, he only failed by a head to concede Romeo’s On Fire 12lbs in what was a competitive handicap.
Joanna Morgan’s Funatfuntasia should go close in the Barrack Homes Ltd Handicap.
He did just that here last time, beaten a short head by Slam Dunk, and hopefully can go one better of a mark 4lbs higher.
