Look Here adds spice to Arc mix
The filly ran a sound race against the colts in the St Leger on her last start and Beckett has not been put off tackling the opposite sex again, this time over her optimum trip of a mile and a half.
Although she does yet not hold an entry, Beckett is considering supplementing the daughter of Hernando, who also has the option of running in the Prix de l’Opera on the same card.
Richard Hughes, who recently lost the Arc ride on Youmzain, will take the mount in either race on Sunday.
In a statement Beckett said: “Look Here is likely to run at the weekend and although she is still a possible for the Prix de l’Opera, we are considering supplementing her on Thursday morning for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
“We have booked Richard Hughes as he has ridden an Oaks Trial winner for her owner and has considerable experience of Longchamp.”
Look Here was introduced at 12-1 with a run by Stan James.
One filly who remains firmly on course for the race is the unbeaten Zarkava, who bids to stretch her unbeaten run to seven.
A total of 23 were left in at the forfeit stage, with Aidan O’Brien’s strong hand spearheaded by Duke Of Marmalade and Soldier Of Fortune.
Youmzain was last year nearly awarded the race in the stewards’ room after an agonising 20-minute inquiry – but Dylan Thomas kept the race.
Mick Channon’s charge will be back for more, though, and nobody would begrudge him the biggest win of his career as he continues to recover from injuries sustained in a car accident.
“I went down to see Youmzain and Mick Channon last week and both are in good form – the horse especially,” said Bruce Raymond, racing manager for Youmzain’s owner Jaber Abdullah.
“I think he’s got a very good chance on Sunday. Obviously a bit of rain would help – but Zarkava is the one to beat.
“We know where we stand with Duke Of Marmalade and Soldier Of Fortune and if you take Zarkava out, it is an open race but the draw is very important.
“It would be fantastic for Mick if he were to run well and it would certainly bring a bit of colour back into his cheeks,” he told At The Races.
Duke Of Marmalade has in recent days emerged as Ballydoyle’s number-one choice with punters.
Neal Wilkins from VC Bet commented “It would appear that the ground could go the way of Duke of Marmalade and against Soldier of Fortune and this has been reflected in the market fluctuations concerning the Ballydoyle runners in the last week.”
