Duke of Marmalade slashed to 3/1 for Arc
Coral have been forced to cut his Arc price to 3-1 from 6-1 following heavy support.
“Aidan O’Brien has never ruled the Arc out as a target for Duke Of Marmalade and with a trip to Great Leighs off the agenda, the support for the King George winner today suggests he may well attempt to emulate last year’s winner Dylan Thomas,” said Coral’s David Stevens. “Should he line up on the forecast good ground at Longchamp, Duke Of Marmalade would clearly be a major player and may even be favourite.”
Ladbrokes have been notable among bookmakers over the past couple of months after not even quoting Duke Of Marmalade for the Arc.
However, they too have now had to concede that a run in France is looking more and more likely.
Ladbrokes spokesman Mike Dillon said: “The weather forecast seems very favourable for Paris and that has seen support come for Duke Of Marmalade.
“Basically, the reason for the support is the weather forecast and all indications the ground will be good or faster.”
