Decoy worth another chance

DESIGNATED DECOY is a hopeful nap choice to land the Blackrock Maiden at Dundalk tonight.

Decoy worth another chance

It has to be said Dermot Weld’s colt was disappointing when proving a costly failure at the Galway Festival, but may be worth another chance at this moderate level.

The son of Danzig proved no match for Amarama at Ballybrit, going under by four and a half lengths.

He never promised to get to grips with the impressive winner but it still, arguably, entitles him to preference.

Amarama is a useful filly and, as well as that, the ground had gone a trifle on the soft side by the time Designated Decoy ran at Galway, it was the last contest of the day, and this surface is likely to prove far more suitable.

Tracey Collins’ Girouette should run a big race in the wide-open Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Handicap. `Considering her only previous experience was when winning an ordinary maiden at Naas, Girouette ran a cracker when beaten a short head by Young Jemmy in a competitive handicap at Dundalk last month. The selection now races off a mark just 2lbs higher.

There are plenty with chances in the Ardee Fillies Maiden, but David Wachman’s Pursuit Of Glory could provide the answer.

The daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus made her debut on this track, fourth to Paddy The Pro, and the way she finished indicated that the extra furlong on this occasion should be a help!

Choipmunk made a solid enough start when runner-up behind Dark Humour at Dundalk and gets the vote in the Annagassan Maiden.
