Melbourne plan for Septimus

AIDAN O’Brien has confirmed that Irish St Leger winner Septimus is to be aimed at the Emirates Melbourne Cup at Flemington on November 4.

The five-year-old entire has won his last four races and has been allotted a weight of 58.5 kg (9st 3lb) in Australia’s most famous race.

O’Brien has raised the issue of the quarantine procedure recently but has stated his intention is to run the son of Sadler’s Wells.

“Septimus seems to be fine and we just have the quarantine issue to address, and I hope to find out about that early next week,” said O’Brien. “The plan is to look at the Melbourne Cup. We’d love to go (to Australia).”

Henrythenavigator meanwhile remains on course for the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot after his defeat in the Prix du Moulin.
