Accentuate looks the answer
Charles O’Brien’s Accentuate is the nap choice in the Super Sunday On October 5th Rated Race over nine furlongs.
Successful just once in 12 outings last season, on the all-weather at Dundalk, he is obviously a long way from being bomb-proof.
Nevertheless, the four-year-old performed with plenty of promise on his belated seasonal debut at Leopardstown 11 days ago and has shown an ability to handle soft ground in the past.
At Leoaprdstown, Accentuate ran towards the rear for much of the journey, before staying on nicely in the straight to claim fifth spot behind Impossible Dream.
Kevin Ryan’s Senor Mirasol is an interesting English challenger for the Listed Danehill Dancer Tipperary Stakes.
He was in Group 2 company in France when beaten half a length and two lengths into third behind Lui Rei and Percolator at Maisons-Laffitte.
Ryan’s charge goes well on a soft surface and should be hard enough to beat, but preference is for Tommy Stack’s Nubar Lady.
She was most disappointing at the Curragh last time, but has now performed badly on two occasions on that track.
Clearly headquarters is not where she wants to be, but the selection has shown a distinct liking for Tipperary, especially when running Group 1 winner, Bushranger, close here in early June. She also has a soft ground success on the course to her credit.
