Graigues Shadow new Leger favourite

THE shocks continued in the Kerry Agribusiness Irish St Leger at Limerick on Sunday night and Graigues Shadow has now been established as a clear favourite to win the final of the 550 yard classic next Saturday.

Among the semi-final casualties on Sunday were Hondo Dingle, The Other Sonic, Royal Treason and Rebel Kewell.

The major shock was provided by the victory of Matt Kiely’s Shaneboy Maria, as she beat the strong finishing Line Of Fire by a length and a half in 29.68. Boherash Gaoithe qualified in third.

Graigues Shadow is trained by Jim Morrissey for Sheffield-based Anthony Rhodes. A son of Brett Lee and Graigues Ditto, he was an impressive 29.55 semi winner when leading all the way to beat Goldmine Emre by a couple of lengths with Jaxerback a length third.

Cashmans make Graigues Shadow 11-8 favourite and then go 11-4 Line Of Fire, 9-2 Goldmine Emre, 11-2 Jaxerback, 10-1 Shaneboy Maria and 12-1 Boherash Gaoithe.

Draw for Saturday’s final: 1 Graigues Shadow; 2 Goldmine Emre; 3 Line Of Fire; 4 Shaneboy Maria; 5 Jaxerback; 6 Boherash Gaoithe.
