Make it Michita

JOHN Gosden may not have enjoyed a Guineas double at Newmarket last month but Michita can offer Classic compensation in the Juddmonte Oaks at Epsom this afternoon.

The Newmarket handler was expected to take high order at Newmarket but both Raven’s Pass and Infallible fell short on the day, leaving Gosden empty-handed.

Michita can rectify that situation at the Surrey venue as she appears to be very much a filly on the up.

Winner of her only start as a juvenile, Gosden made no secret of the high regard in which he held the Dynaformer filly, pitching her in at the deep in the Fred Darling on her seasonal reappearance.

Michita threw away any chance that day by getting warm in the preliminaries but she bounced back to form and showed her true potential when winning a Listed event at Newbury last time out. Admittedly it is a huge leap from that level to this, but the style of Michita’s four-and-a-half-length victory demonstrated what a promising prospect she is.

She will have to improve again to beat some of the leading fancies from Ireland but in a fairly open year, Michita is the pick at a worthwhile price.
