Chinese White to kick-off at Gowran Park

CHINESE White, a general 12-1 chance for the Juddmonte Oaks, is set to kick off her season in the EBF Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes at Gowran on May 4.

Trainer Dermot Weld has pencilled in the Listed event for his one-raced daughter of Dalakhani, who streaked home by six lengths on her debut at Leopardstown last September.

The master of Rosewell House said: “She is perfect and in really good order.

“She has been a bit slow to come forward. A lot of my horses have been very forward but she has been hanging on to her coat.

“The plan is to start her off in two weeks’ time in a nine-and-a-half-furlong fillies’ trial at Gowran.

“That is the earliest she will be out and we will take it one day at a time from there.”

* Senlis emerged victorious in Rome as Peter Chapple-Hyam’s Orientalist Art failed to get competitive in the Italian 2000 Guineas. The locally-trained winner finished six lengths clear of Eustachione in the Group Three contest.
