RUBY WALSH joined the sidelined Davy Russell at the top of the jockeys’ championship, 121 winners apiece, when guiding Captain Conflict to a smooth success in the Saltan Properties Maiden Hurdle at Tramore last night.

And then, of course, he banged in two more for good measure to take a decisive lead in his bid for a sixth title, with Russell not due back from his wrist injury until the start of the Punchestown Festival next Tuesday.

Pushed ahead by Walsh shortly after three out, Captain Conflict was a trifle awkward over the last two flights, but still scored with any amount in hand.
