Chesney the choice

AFTER the opening round of the Galbally Stakes and Russell Cup at Galbally yesterday Gaytime Chesney, who won his Trial Stake here last season, is given a cautious vote to win out.

Chesney the choice

The fawn was impressive in his run yesterday, coming from behind to show six lengths ahead of Mounteden Blue at the escape.

He will have a tougher time of it this morning starting with Jobys Cruiser in the quarter-final, but looks the part to take the prize.

At the bottom of the draw Whytanyard Bla looks the one most likely to make it to the decider.

Catunda Ashmore is hard to oppose in the Derby Trial Stake.

The clockmen got him lengths faster than everything else in his two runs yesterday and he should have little difficulty in getting to the decider from the bottom half of the draw.

The top half looks much more open with Step We Gaily and Crafty Nasko in particular going well.

The Oaks Trial Stake is a competitive affair. Caoimhes Susie and Tommy Tiptoe look the principals at the top of the draw while Honeymoon Bridge and Whytanyard Lily are likely semi-finalists from the bottom section.

Coursing this morning will again commence at 11.30.
