Foreman ready for Cork bow

FOREMAN is set to make his debut for new trainer Charlie Swan in Sunday’s O’Connell Logistics Hilly Way Chase at Cork.

A one-time Irish Champion Hurdle winner, Foreman excelled in his first term over fences, even reversing Arkle placings with Voy Por Ustedes in the Maghull Novices’ Chase.

However, he could not repeat that performance in three starts last season and has been given a change of scenery by owner JP McManus, moving from Thierry Doumen in France to Swan.

“I’d say he will run at the weekend, and he’s in very good order,” said the handler. “I’ve had him for three months now and obviously he’s a good horse.

“He’s been working nicely, it just depends how much ability he has retained when he gets onto the racecourse.

“I think he would be better left-handed (Cork is right-handed) but we’ll see.

“After this, there are a few conditions chases in Ireland, the ones Nickname was winning last year, so we might look at those. He’ll be kept in Ireland for the time being.”
