Keep faith in Seven Disciples
Joe Crowley’s charge is certainly no star, but with Ruby Walsh renewing acquaintances is well capable of landing this moderate enough contest.
Walsh was in the plate when the selection made his debut over flights at Clonmel 13 days ago. Seven Disciples performed solidly to finish a neck and a length and a quarter third behind Migmatite and Shazand.
Migmatite boosted the form when stepping up in class to score at Naas last Saturday and an extra two furlongs plus to travel now, compared to Clonmel, looks ideal for Seven Disciples.
Clarkey, who won a point-to-point in 2005, can get off the mark over fences in the Ladbrokes One Account Beginners Chase.
He has hardly been easy to train and this will only be his fifth outing on the track for Christy Roche.
His latest appearance, however, indicated that Clarkey may be in reasonable shape right now. That came at Fairyhouse last month, when he was outspeeded over an inadequate two miles by Keelaghan.
Noel Meade has possibilities of a first and last race double, starting with Shiloh in the Ladbroke Northern Ireland EBF Maiden Hurdle.
He’s another who has been lightly raced and this will only be a fourth run for the seven-year-old.
Like Clarkey, Shiloh comes here on the back of a reasonable effort, six lengths runner-up to Uncle Junior at Down Royal.
Meade’s Gloonan Hill, noted making late progress when a remote third to stable companion Muirhead and this week’s easy Limerick winner Marseillais over hurdles at Down Royal, is the choice in the Bumper.
