Peter Chapple-Hyam’s colt gave Dettori his first Derby at Epsom in June and erased the memory of a subsequent Coral-Eclipse defeat with another smooth success in York’s Juddmonte International.
Dettori believes Authorized will line up at Longchamp on Sunday week a stronger horse than earlier in the season and is relishing his upcoming test.
Dettori said: “I rode Authorized this morning and I was very pleased.
“We worked seven furlongs on the racecourse side. He does not usually work well there, but it was very decent for him, and for once he passed his lead horse!
“Peter gets me to ride him once in a while. Obviously I rode him in May and from May to now he has improved physically, but you would expect a three-year-old to do so.
“Peter is on course for Arc weekend and I heard on the radio the English rugby fans in Paris were getting wet, so that’s good news!”
Some have suggested Authorized might not be ideally suited by racing right-handed, but Dettori does not anticipate Longchamp’s track posing any problems.
“I don’t think it’s an issue.
“It could be an issue if they went into a bend straight away, but they don’t,” he added.
“He proved he can handle Epsom, and any horse who can do that will be fine.”
Chapple-Hyam echoed Dettori’s sentiments regarding Authorized’s spin on the gallops, and says the star colt will now just enjoy some light exercise before taking his place in the Arc.
“I am very happy with Authorized, as is Frankie. He is in superb form and now I can’t wait for the Arc,” he told www.peterchapplehyam.com.
