Affair looks the answer

ONCE-raced End Of The Affair is the nap choice in the Carlsberg and Harp Fillies Maiden at Dundalk tonight.

Affair looks the answer

She was well touted to make a winning debut at Fairyhouse last Saturday and went off the 7-4 joint favourite.

But the daughter of Indian Ridge could only manage fifth behind John Oxx’s heavily-backed Saga Celebre, fellow joint favourite, failing to raise her tempo in the straight.

Clearly the selection didn’t quite reproduce her homework on the track and is worth another chance, particularly with Dermot Weld deciding to turn her out again so quickly.

Rejuvenation, a creditable second to Queen Of France at the Curragh, following a long absence, is rated the principal danger.

The Esther McGahon McGuinness and Co Race has attracted just five runners, but none of them can be dismissed.

The nod falls on Kevin Prendergast’s Rainbow Crossing, who looked a very smart sort in the making when landing her maiden at Gowran Park.

Her latest two efforts have been less than inspiring, but they both came in very testing conditions.

Leandros, who has already shown his liking for this track, could be the one to take advantage should Rainbow Crossing again perform below par.

Aidan O’Brien’s Great Barrier Reef is difficult enough to oppose in the Smirnoff EBF Maiden. He was out of his depth in the National Stakes at the Curragh, eight lengths fifth to New Approach, and this represents a major drop in class.
