Mix looks right in maiden

CHARMINAMIX, who was taken out of a maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe on Monday, can enjoy a first success over flights in the Dance To The Chevvy’s Dec. 21st Handicap Hurdle at Downpatrick this afternoon.

Mix looks right in maiden

The grey four-year-old showed very little prior to being gambled-on at Bellewstown towards the end of August.

Running off a paltry 75, he was backed from 3-1 to 7-4 favourite, but proved disappointing. Charminamix failed to get to grips with Our Monty, who was conceding 21lbs, going down by three and a half lengths.

The selection, however, was very free in the early stages of the contest and then couldn’t find what might have been expected at the business end.

The handicapper raised him 4lbs for that effort, but Ruby Walsh’s mount still gets in here on what looks an attractive mark.

He has since enjoyed a spin on the flat when a creditable fourth to Little Eye over nine furlongs at Leopardstown.

Charminamix has a relatively high rating on the level, 88, and only has to start to transmit his prowess at that game to jumps to make short work of this opposition.

Noel Meade’s Sulla, at his best on a decent surface, can take the Downpatrick Maiden Hurdle.

He was in front when falling at the last, race won by Polar Call, at Navan in May and fitness is never a worry when it comes to inmates from this yard.

Luxi River, who is overdue a turn, is the one to beat in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Beginners Chase.

He was no match for Jawad at Kilbeggan, beaten five lengths into second, but faces nothing of that calibre on this occasion.
