Focus on Fracas

THE consistent and tough Fracas is fancied to defy top weight in the Listed Diamond Stakes at Fairyhouse this afternoon.

Focus on Fracas

He has enjoyed a fine campaign and all ground seems to come the same to him. The five-year-old has held his form really well and was again seen to advantage at Leopardstown last month.

Contesting the Group 3 Ballyroan Stakes, he finished a creditable half a length second behind Mores Wells and had one of his main rivals now, Arch Rebel (rec. 3lbs), a head behind in third.

That contest has been working out quite nicely.

Mores Wells went on to finish third to Yeats in the Irish Leger at the Curragh, while Arch Rebel subsequently filled second behind Mark Johnston's Hearthstead Maison in another Group 3 at Leopardstown.

Kevin Prendergast's I Confess looks best in the Irish Stallion Farms' EBF Auction Maiden. The Fantastic Light gelding was in better class than this when beaten a neck by Domingues at Naas.

At Listowel today take a chance on Wesaidneveragain in the competitive 16-runner Charlie Chute Memorial Handicap.

He seems to be on the upgrade, performing solidly on this track on Monday when runner-up to Fancy Feathers.

That race was run over an extended six furlongs and stepping up to a mile now could well be the making of the three-year-old!

It seems reasonably safe to narrow the Guinness Surge Novice Chase down to Brave Right and Medicinal.

Brave Right has taken to fences in fine style, producing decent efforts at Galway and Ballinrobe.

Medicinal followed an impressive display at Tipperary by disappointing at Galway, but will be better suited to this flat track. Preference is for Brave Right.

Bluebyyou, who has caught the eye on a couple of occasions over flights, gets the nod in the Edmond Whelan Memorial Handicap Hurdle.

At Listowel tomorrow the talented, but somewhat enigmatic, Life For Rent gets the nap in the Charleville Cheese Maiden Hurdle.

The triple bumper winner has finished second twice over hurdles, at Sligo and Galway, and should now be poised to strike.

The classy Leg Spinner, successful over flights at Galway and on the flat at Ascot, can complete a hat-trick in the Kerry Spring Water Hurdle.

Tony Martin trains Leg Spinner and is fancied to complete a double with Top The Charts, a winner over hurdles at Down Royal on his latest appearance, in the Listowel Races Supporters' Club Slan Abhaile Race. Nina Carberry is a significant booking.
