IT can be a case of third time lucky for Wrong Number in the Maurice Carroll Bookmakers’ EBF Median Auction Maiden at Tralee this afternoon.

Kevin Prendergast’s colt began by finishing a length and a quarter second behind Linsalata at Leopardstown, when noted doing all his best work in the closing stages.

The son of King’s Best then ran into an Aidan O’Brien special at Gowran Park earlier this month. Driven to the front over a furlong down by Chris Hayes, Wrong Number was grabbed close home by Frozen Fire, the verdict half a length.
